Amazon Associates
Download the Fee-Earnings report and upload it; tracking IDs say which site earned what.
About 3 minutes.
Amazon doesn't offer a reporting API to Associates, so Amazon earnings come in as an upload. It takes a minute, and once a month (or once a week) is plenty.
Give each site its own tracking ID (once)
- In Associates Central, open your account name (top right) → Manage Tracking IDs → Add Tracking ID.
- Name it after the site, for example kitchenpicks-20 for Kitchen Picks. Use that ID in the site's Amazon links.
- A tracking ID that matches a site's name is credited on its own. Any other can be matched once, by hand (below).
Upload the report
- In Associates Central, open Reports → Download Reports.
- Choose the Fee-Earnings report, the period (last month, or the month so far), and CSV or TSV.
- In your dashboard, open Revenue uploads, choose Amazon Associates (Fee-Earnings report) as the source, and upload the file.
- Ad Fees count as your earnings, Revenue as the sale. Returns come in as negative rows and are subtracted. Uploading overlapping periods never counts a sale twice.
Match a tracking ID to a site
Tracking IDs that match no site are listed on the Revenue uploads page under Not matched to a site, with what they earned. Choose the site and select Match: past sales move to it, and later uploads follow.
Several countries
Each Amazon store (amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.ca…) has its own Associates account and report. Upload each one, choosing its currency (GBP for amazon.co.uk, CAD for amazon.ca): it's converted to dollars at the European Central Bank's rate for each sale's day, and the original amount stays visible on the Revenue page.
If you see…
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Couldn't find a date and an amount column | The file is a different report (Orders, Clicks, Tracking ID Summary). | Download the Fee-Earnings report instead: it has one row per item shipped, with its date and ad fees. |
| Amazon earnings not uploaded for N days | No new Amazon upload for a while. | Upload the latest Fee-Earnings report; the warning clears on its own. |
