Help · Using RevWarn
What each warning means
Every warning in the dashboard and the emails, and what to do about it.
About 6 minutes.
Critical warnings are emailed at once (and sent to Slack or your phone if set up); warnings wait for the next morning or evening email. Each one clears by itself when the problem goes away. Acknowledge one to stop being reminded, or snooze it for a day or a week.
Sites
- Is down (critical): the home page failed three checks in a row. Check your host; the recovery is emailed too.
- Is slow: the home page took more than its limit to answer, several times running.
- Domain expires soon: renew it, or turn on auto-renew at your registrar.
- robots.txt problem / sitemap problem: search engines may be blocked or can't find your pages. The detail says which.
- Home page sends visitors to another site (critical when it's unexpected): a redirect you didn't set up is how hijacked sites usually start.
- Links changed by someone else?: affiliate links on your pages carry an account ID that isn't yours, or new outside links appeared across the site. Check the pages listed.
- A page shows a broken value: a price or number on a page reads as empty or an error.
- Links to fix: every night a different set of each site's pages is read, and the store pages behind their affiliate links are checked directly (never through the link, so no fake clicks). A product page that's gone, now the store's home page, or sold out is listed on the site's page, with plain links that pay nothing: an Amazon product link without your tag, or a plain link to a store you earn from elsewhere. Fix or remove the link; it drops off at the next check of that page. Stores that block automated visitors are skipped, never reported as broken.
Traffic
- New 30-day low: yesterday's traffic was lower than every one of the 30 days before. One day can be noise; two in a row rarely is.
- No page views recorded: nothing at all yesterday, against normal days before. Usually tracking removed, a redirect, or a blank page.
- Pages losing Google (or Bing) clicks: pages that lost half or more of their search clicks week over week. The detail lists them.
- Automated clicks suspected: bursts of clicks on store links from one place in a minute. They're left out of your counts.
Revenue and programs
- Program paused or ended (critical if it earned in the last 90 days): its links now earn nothing. Swap them for another program.
- Commission cut: the program lowered its rate. The detail shows before and after.
- Reversed commissions this week: sales the network took back (returns, cancellations).
- Revenue sync is failing: the network's API refused the last syncs. Usually an expired key; see that network's page.
- Earnings not uploaded for N days: a source without an API needs its monthly upload.
- CJ account close to dormancy: see the CJ page.
Store links
- Store pages behind its links are gone: products your affiliate links point to now answer 404 or bounce to the store's home page.
- Feed is stale: a price feed hasn't updated in longer than usual.
RevWarn itself
- Data collector is failing: one of the collectors couldn't run. The detail has the source's own error; the Setup page shows what to fix.
